The real-life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza coming to New Jersey just got a little more frightening. The Marionette, one of the most recognizable characters in the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, will be appearing inside Freddy’s Famous Gift Shop when the permanent attraction opens at American Dream Mall in 2027. And according to one of the people helping bring the experience to life, she won’t be showing up alone.
The latest look at the upcoming attraction comes from a teaser image shared by the official Five Nights at Freddy’s account, drawing attention to The Marionette’s appearance in the gift shop. The character is shown wearing a small jester hat, a design detail that fans have quickly connected to the Security Puppet from Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator. That version of the character was associated with a gift-box setup designed to protect children, making a gift shop appearance a rather fitting place for the Puppet to turn up.
The character’s presence also gives fans another reason to examine the attraction’s design for connections to the games. The Marionette is closely associated with the earlier Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza locations and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, rather than the restaurant most players remember from the original game. Her appearance suggests the American Dream experience isn’t aiming to recreate one specific pizzeria down to every last detail. Instead, it looks like the attraction is drawing from different corners of the franchise’s history.
There’s another tease that may be even more interesting. Atreyu Alcantar, American Dream’s Creative Manager of Location-Based Entertainment and the creative lead for the attraction, responded to the excitement by saying, “The MARIONETTE will be at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza with the rest of the crew- and she’s brought along some Friends!” That’s all he revealed, but it was enough to get fans guessing about who else might be hiding inside Freddy’s Famous Gift Shop.
Balloon Boy and the Toy Animatronics are already among the characters being floated around by the community. Those are possibilities, not confirmed additions, so we’ll have to wait for the next reveal to find out who The Marionette has invited along. Considering how many characters have occupied the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe over the years, there is no shortage of candidates.
The Marionette reveal is the latest piece of information about the permanent Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza experience, which is being developed in collaboration with ScottGames. American Dream previously announced that the attraction will open in 2027 at its East Rutherford, New Jersey, location. It is being described as the world’s first permanent immersive restaurant experience based on the franchise.
Visitors will be able to order food at the fast-casual restaurant, play arcade machines recreated from the games, and experience multiplayer survival-horror activities. The attraction will also feature two animatronic stage performances: Freddy and the Fazbear Band on the Main Stage, and Foxy the Pirate at Pirate Cove. Freddy’s Famous Gift Shop is another part of the experience, and it now has a very familiar resident waiting inside.
One important distinction for anyone expecting to walk into the exact establishment from the game’s timeline: this is a permanent themed entertainment experience, not a literal recreation of the dangerous 1987 restaurant from the Five Nights at Freddy’s lore. American Dream has described the project as a functional reimagining of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, built to bring the franchise’s world into a real location.
There is still no official opening date or ticket information. For now, fans have a new Marionette reveal, a mysterious promise of additional characters, and plenty of reasons to keep watching the gift shop. Just don’t let the kids wander off while you’re shopping.
