Freddy Fazbear has brought some familiar faces to Roku City, but one of the most recognizable animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy’s is nowhere to be found.
A new Easter egg spotted inside Roku’s popular TV screensaver features Freddy, Chica, and Foxy hanging out inside a diner, leaving fans wondering why Bonnie the Bunny was left out.
The discovery was shared on X by user DevSprings, where the unexpected FNAF reference caught the attention of the franchise’s fan community. The diner appearance brings the animatronics into Roku City, the constantly evolving digital cityscape that appears when Roku devices are idle.
There is no official announcement from Roku or FNAF creator Scott Cawthon confirming a collaboration. Roku City has become known for hiding pop-culture references throughout its animated skyline, with fans regularly spotting new additions without a formal announcement. This latest discovery appears to be another one of those surprises.
Naturally, the biggest talking point isn’t who made the cut. It’s who didn’t.
Bonnie’s absence has sparked theories among FNAF fans, with some connecting the missing animatronic to the events of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. In that game, Glamrock Bonnie mysteriously disappears from the Mega Pizzaplex before the events of the story, with Montgomery Gator taking his place in the band. The franchise never makes Bonnie’s disappearance a simple, straightforward mystery, which has helped turn his whereabouts into a running subject of fan discussion.
Could the Roku City Easter egg be another joke about Bonnie going missing? It’s certainly a fun possibility, but there is no confirmation that the designers intended to reference Security Breach. Other fans have offered more practical explanations, joking that Bonnie might be the one taking the picture or that there simply wasn’t enough room to fit another animatronic inside the diner.
Until Roku explains the reference, if it ever does, Bonnie’s absence remains a mystery. The company has not publicly identified the people responsible for the Easter egg or confirmed whether more FNAF characters could appear in a future screensaver update.
The discovery arrives as Roku City gets its seasonal Halloween treatment. The screensaver has accumulated a growing collection of movie and television references over the years, with spooky additions appearing around the digital neighborhood during October. Horror fans have been spotting familiar touches throughout the city, making the sudden appearance of Freddy and his friends an especially timely surprise.
For now, Roku users can keep an eye out for the diner and see whether they can spot the three animatronics for themselves. And if Bonnie eventually turns up somewhere else in Roku City, fans will have another mystery to investigate.
