‘Psycho Side Chick’ Vs. The ‘One Night Stand’ Killer: Come on, Tubi, It’s Right There

Psycho Side Chick Vs One Night Stand

One is a serial killer who goes after faux-fiancés after discovering she is the side piece. The other is a mass murderer who lures known cheaters to their demise. And they both live at Tubi. So why shouldn’t they face off for the ultimate in-universe team-up? I mean, come on, Tubi. It’s right there.

It’s been a while since we got a true horror crossover movie, a genre that has always been few and far between, mostly because of franchise rights. We did get Freddy Vs. Jason back in 2003. And 20th Century Studios gave us two (not very good) Aliens vs. Predator movies. Other notable collabs include Sadako vs. Kayako from 2016, which pits the vengeful, television-cursing spirit of The Ring against the haunted house ghost of The Grudge. But that didn’t even open in U.S. theaters. My favorite might be Gingerdead Man vs. Evil Bong.

So why can’t we get Psycho Side Chick Vs. The Black Widow Killer?

I see that look on your face. It’s the same look my 85-year-old dad gives me when I ask him if he wants chicken nuggets or chicken strips. Followed by a long, whiny, “What are you even talking about?”

Well?

Let me tell you.

Throughout the Halloween season, Tubi debuted two original movies. Both are domestic thrillers with very similar storylines. The slashers at the center of both flicks look like they could be sisters. Like, literally related. So why shouldn’t they be? If Tubi ever decided to expand this lore. Which I most definitely think they should.

Psycho Side Chick

Psycho Side Chick hit the streaming service on October 16, arriving as the latest Tubi Original. Kelsey (played by Najah Bradley in a breakout performance) thinks she’s involved in a long-distance romance with Mario (the ever-amazing Blair Anthony Hall), an Atlanta gym owner who lives six hours away. What she doesn’t know is that he’s married to Chloe (scene-stealer Tatiana Le’Joy), and the couple is expecting a baby.

When Mario suddenly calls it quits, Kelsey takes the rejection badly. Her obsession turns dangerous as she sets out to get him back, willing to hurt anyone who stands between her and the man she refuses to let go. The movie’s tagline, as delivered by Niles Austin’s Jerrell, is “She’s not crazy, she’s a serial killer.”

It’s a straight banger.

The Black Widow Killer

Two weeks later, One Night Stand arrived on Tubi as the free app’s big Halloween release. And it does have a very similair sting. The story follows Jaylen Burns (played by DeJuan Ford, who delivers a performance that is a little too good for the bowels of Tubi). He has a wife, a career, and a baby on the way. While out drinking, Jaylen accepts a bet to pick up a woman, giving her the fake name Marvin before slipping away with Eve, a striking stranger in a red dress.

What Jaylen doesn’t realize is that the local news has been warning about the Black Widow, a serial killer who targets married men caught cheating. Jaylen figures he can walk away the next morning and pretend the whole thing never happened. Eve (played by a very striking Robyn Rose) has other plans. After tracking him down and discovering who he really is, she starts working her way into every corner of his life.

As Detective Saint and Detective Keets investigate the growing number of Black Widow murders, Jaylen finds himself caught between the police and a woman who knows exactly how to make his life miserable. His one-night mistake has turned into a fight to keep his marriage, his career, and his family intact before Eve decides there is no one left to spare.

Both Psycho Side Chick and One Night Stand are left open-ended. It’s obvious Tubi is planning more adventures for both ladies of the fright. But I want to pitch my idea for the perfect crossover: Psycho Side Chick Vs. One Night Stand: The Thot Thickens.

I guess you could call this fan fiction. It’s my unsolicited pitch. Tubi, feel free to use this, I won’t sue.

A sequel pitch by Paulington James Christensen III

The next night could be your last.

The One Night Stand Killer, better known as the Black Widow Eve, has been leaving a trail of dead, unfaithful husbands behind her. But the latest investigation into her murders has a new twist: the man hunting her is about to become just as dangerous as the people he’s chasing.

Detective Derek Maddox is an undercover cop with one mission: get close enough to Black Widow Eve to bring her down. His partner, Detective Lauren Hayes, is along for the ride, posing as his pregnant wife. The married-couple act gives them a convincing cover, allowing Derek to move through the nightlife and put himself in the path of women who might lead him to the killer. It’s a risky assignment, but Derek believes he can keep his feelings out of it and stay focused on the job.

Then he meets Kelsey (aka Psycho Side Chick).

Beautiful, unpredictable, and carrying more than a few secrets of her own, Kelsey is the kind of woman Derek was supposed to avoid. But their chemistry is undeniable, and what begins as an attempt to get close to a potential lead turns into something neither of them expected. Derek starts falling for her, and for the first time, the undercover detective finds himself questioning where the act ends and his real feelings begin. Unfortunately, Kelsey has a secret that makes Black Widow Eve look like she’s not the only threat in town. She’s a serial killer herself, and she’s not particularly fond of sharing the men she wants.

The One Night Stand Killer

When Black Widow Eve finally tracks down Kelsey and her new man, she expects to find another cheating husband ripe for punishment. Instead, she discovers a woman who may be every bit as ruthless as she is. The confrontation between the two killers explodes into a vicious brawl, but the real surprise comes when they uncover Derek’s deception. He’s a detective, and the pregnant wife he’s been pretending to have is actually his undercover partner. Suddenly, the two women have something in common: they’ve both been played by the same man.

With their rivalry temporarily set aside, Kelsey and Black Widow Eve join forces to make Derek pay. Their target isn’t just the detective who fooled them. Lauren is now in danger, and the two killers are determined to make sure she doesn’t walk away from the operation alive.

But Derek isn’t the only person with unfinished business involving the Black Widow. Jaylen Burns, the man who survived his encounter with her in One Night Stand, is back, and he has no interest in letting the killer who turned his life upside down get away with it. He has come for revenge, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

Now, with two serial killers working together and Lauren trapped in the middle of their deadly game, Derek has no choice but to join forces with the last person he ever expected to trust: Jaylen Burns. The undercover detective and the man who once barely escaped the Black Widow Killer must put their differences aside, survive a nightmare neither saw coming, and rescue Lauren before the killers close in.

In a world where nobody is who they claim to be, the biggest mistake might be falling for the wrong woman. And when Black Widow Eve and the Psycho Side Chick decide to share a target, even the men who thought they knew how to play the game are in for a very bloody surprise.

What do you think, Tubi? Could Psycho Side Chick Vs. The One Night Stand Killer work? My synopsis is just a flight of fancy and in no way meant to be mistaken for the real thing. I just want to get this on the streaming app as soon as possible.

We need another horror mashup, and Tubi already has the ingredients sitting right there. Two killers, one very bad undercover operation, and Jaylen Burns looking for payback. What are we waiting for? It’s either this or Backroom Obsessions. The ball is in your court, Tubi. Let’s make this happen.
