Dexter Morgan has spent years hunting killers, but Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection is giving him two particularly dangerous new problems.
Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the second season of the Michael C. Hall-led series, introducing Dan Stevens as the New York Ripper and Brian Cox as the Five Borough Killer. Both men find themselves in Dexter’s orbit as he settles back into life in New York and deals with another problem he can’t solve with his usual set of tools: a midlife crisis.
Season 2 finds Dexter caught between the two killers while Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice. Father and son are still trying to figure out their relationship and what their respective ideas of justice look like after everything that happened during the first season.
The trailer puts Stevens and Cox front and center as the major new threats, while bringing back several familiar faces from Dexter: Resurrection. Uma Thurman’s Charley returns alongside Jack Alcott as Harrison, James Remar as Harry Morgan and Desmond Harrington as Joey Quinn. Krysten Ritter is also back as Mia Lapierre after appearing during the first season.
Who Are Brian Cox and Dan Stevens Playing?
Dan Stevens joins Dexter: Resurrection as the New York Ripper, while Brian Cox plays the Five Borough Killer.
The two characters give Dexter very different problems to solve. Stevens’ New York Ripper has been terrorizing the city, putting Dexter on the trail of another active killer at a time when his own life is already becoming increasingly difficult to manage.
Cox’s Five Borough Killer brings a different kind of history to the season. The trailer presents him as an established figure who appears perfectly comfortable discussing what he is, which should make his encounters with Dexter particularly interesting.
Dexter now finds himself navigating both men at once rather than identifying a single target and building a case around him. The official Season 2 synopsis describes Dexter as caught between “one notorious” killer and another who is terrorizing New York in unexpected ways.
Who Is Returning for ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2?
Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, with Jack Alcott once again playing his son Harrison. Uma Thurman is back as Charley, while Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar also return.
Stevens and Cox join the cast as series regulars alongside Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson. Krysten Ritter returns in a guest role, while The Last of Us and Terminator: Dark Fate actor Gabriel Luna will also guest star this season.
Clyde Phillips returns as showrunner and executive producer, with Hall also serving as an executive producer.
When Does ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 Premiere?
Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premieres Friday, October 30 on Paramount+.
The new season arrives a little over a year after Resurrection brought Hall back to the role following the events of Dexter: New Blood. The first season shifted the story to New York City, where Dexter attempted to reconnect with Harrison while returning to the familiar business of tracking killers who fit his code.
Now New York has two more names for Dexter’s list.
