‘Wicker‘ Gets Wild With a Classic Romantasy Poster and Wicker Pasties

Wicker Poster Pasties

Wicker is getting into the spirit of its upcoming release with a romance-novel-inspired poster, a Los Angeles pop-up selling wicker pasties, and a promotional campaign that has me ready to hand the movie every Oscar next year.

I’d bet big money that Wicker wins best picture. I’ll go you one better. I bet it sweeps the acting categories too. You just wait.

The new poster for Wicker gives the upcoming film the full classic romance novel treatment, with the kind of cover that wouldn’t look out of place on a supermarket paperback rack. The movie’s official account unveiled the artwork on October 16, calling it a romantasy novel-inspired edition for book lovers. The release is just one week away, with Wicker arriving in limited theaters on October 23.

Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, and Elizabeth Debicki have also been given a first look at the poster in a separate video shared by the film’s official account. Their reactions are part of a promotional push that seems perfectly suited to a movie about a woman who orders herself a husband made of wicker. Colman plays the fisherwoman, with Skarsgård as her unusual new partner. Peter Dinklage and Richard E. Grant also star.

As someone who has been covering movies for a long time, I can recognize a major awards contender when I see one. And I’m going to put my reputation on the line here: Wicker is going to win Best Picture at the 2027 Academy Awards. I’m also prepared to predict a sweep of the acting categories. Colman, Skarsgård, Debicki, Dinklage, and Grant can start clearing space on their mantels now.

Do I have any evidence for this prediction? Not yet. Have I seen the movie? That’s not the point. I’m going with my gut, and my gut has never been more convinced that the Academy is about to fall in love with a wicker husband.

The movie’s promotional campaign is getting just as unusual as the premise. On October 17, the Wicker team announced a one-day retail pop-up in Los Angeles at Cane & Basket, located at 1283 S. Cochran Avenue. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m., or until supplies last, and the advertised lineup includes T-shirts, hats, coffee, books, matcha, sourdough, fruit preserves, flowers, and wicker pasties.

Yes, wicker nipples. The film’s social post promises thier “for the people,” which is a sentence I wasn’t expecting to read this week. If you’ve been looking for a way to express your affection for a fictional husband made of woven branches, Los Angeles has apparently got you covered.

The pop-up is a limited event, so anyone hoping to attend should keep the short hours in mind. The poster reveal and cast reaction video, meanwhile, are available through the film’s official social media accounts.

This is the same movie that previously inspired Regal to offer a free 3D-printable popcorn bucket modeled after Skarsgård’s woven character. As we covered in our earlier story, fans can print the design at home and bring it to participating Regal theaters during opening weekend, October 23 through 25, to receive a free small popcorn. Wicker is scheduled to expand nationwide on October 30.

At this point, I don’t know how the Academy could possibly ignore a movie with this much wicker-related activity surrounding it. Best Picture is practically in the bag. So are the acting trophies. And if the Academy wants to create a new Oscar category for Best Use of Wicker, I know exactly which movie should win.
