New ‘Trick ‘r Treat‘ Video Wants You to Enjoy 3.1 Hours of Halloween Graveyard Ambience With Sam

Sam Halloween Ambiance Trick r Treat

Sam is giving Halloween fans another reason to keep the lights low this October. The little troublemaker from Trick ’r Treat now has a 3.1-hour animated graveyard ambience video, offering a moonlit cemetery full of drifting ghosts and autumn atmosphere for anyone who wants some spooky company heading into the big holiday two Saturdays from now.

The new video is available on the official Sam: The Soul of Halloween YouTube channel. Michael Dougherty, the filmmaker who created Sam and directed Trick ’r Treat, helmed this fun project, with Breehn Burns serving as animation director. Burns and Ye Aung handled the animation, while Rory Dise designed the character.

“The night is young. The dead are restless. And Sam has absolutely nowhere else he’d rather be,” reads the video’s official description.

The setup is simple. Viewers can settle in among the tombstones and watch the ghosts drift through the graveyard. Just let the Halloween atmosphere run in the background. The video is designed to be looped, making it an option for anyone who wants to leave a little seasonal ambience playing throughout the evening. The official description even suggests pumpkin carving as a suitable activity, along with the occasional minor act of necromancy.

The release is another addition to Sam: The Soul of Halloween, the project Dougherty launched this month to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Season’s Greetings. That 1996 animated short introduced Sam long before the character became the burlap-masked face of Trick ’r Treat. The new project brings Sam back to his animated roots through original collaborations with artists working in different styles.

As we covered in our earlier Sam: The Soul of Halloween trailer story, Dougherty is building a dedicated home for the character beyond his appearances in the films. The graveyard ambience video fits right in, giving fans another way to spend time with Sam without waiting for the next short to arrive.

For anyone who would rather have Halloween running in the background than settle for another generic relaxation video, Sam’s graveyard is now open. Just don’t forget to keep an eye on your candy. We also get another new video celebrating 13 days until Halloween.
