‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Final Season Trailer Reunites Daryl and Carol for One Last Journey

The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon final season trailer

Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier have survived more than 15 years of The Walking Dead, but their latest adventure is about to bring one of the franchise’s longest-running partnerships to an end.

AMC has released a new trailer for the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, confirming that the series will return in February 2027. The footage debuted during New York Comic Con, where Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride joined showrunner David Zabel and executive producer Scott M. Gimple to discuss the upcoming season and look back at the characters’ long history together.

Rather than concentrating entirely on what’s coming next, the trailer revisits Daryl and Carol’s relationship from their earliest days with Rick Grimes’ group of survivors. Scenes from the original Walking Dead series trace the friendship that developed between the two characters, whose lives have remained connected through years of separation, loss and unexpected reunions.

The new footage also offers glimpses of their final adventure in Spain, where the pair remain determined to find their way home. After spending the first two seasons of Daryl Dixon in France, the series moved to Spain for its third season, continuing Daryl and Carol’s increasingly complicated journey back to the United States.

Season 4 picks up with the two traveling through the devastated Spanish countryside, facing new threats while trying to hold onto the possibility of eventually returning home. AMC’s description emphasizes the uncertainty surrounding their future, with both characters relying on the bond they’ve developed over the years.

Jimmy Smits joins the final season as Captain Alejandro Perkins, a former U.S. Navy officer and medical doctor who has found an unusual way to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. Smits, whose television credits include NYPD Blue, The West Wing and Sons of Anarchy, is one of the biggest additions to the cast for the show’s final eight episodes.

The returning cast also includes Romain Levi, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbués. Zabel continues as showrunner, with Reedus, McBride, Gimple and Greg Nicotero among the executive producers.

Although Daryl Dixon is ending with Season 4, AMC has not announced that this will be the final appearance of either character in The Walking Dead universe. The network has continued expanding the franchise through multiple spinoffs, and both Daryl and Carol remain among its longest-serving characters.

AMC also used New York Comic Con to announce that all 11 seasons of the original The Walking Dead will be available on AMC+ beginning January 7, 2027. The addition will bring the flagship series together with its spinoffs on the streaming service, allowing viewers to revisit Daryl and Carol’s story from the beginning before their final season premieres.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns for its eight-episode final season in February 2027 on AMC and AMC+.
