Michael Myers’ ‘Halloween (2018)’ Look Revealed in ‘Halloween: The Game’ Trailer

Michael Myers is getting another familiar look in Halloween: The Game, and this time he’s bringing his weathered mask from David Gordon Green’s Halloween (2018) back to Haddonfield.

IllFonic has released a new trailer revealing Michael’s appearance from the 2018 film, which will be available as a downloadable skin beginning October 27. The new look is part of the game’s first major post-launch content update, which also introduces another Michael Myers skin inspired by Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers.

For fans of the 2018 movie, the biggest attraction is the mask itself. Academy Award-winning makeup effects artist Christopher Nelson designed Michael Myers’ weathered mask for David Gordon Green’s Halloween, creating an aged version of the iconic white mask that reflected the decades that had passed since John Carpenter’s 1978 original.

Nelson’s design retained the familiar features of Michael’s original mask while introducing the wrinkles, discoloration and signs of deterioration that helped distinguish the character’s return in 2018. He would go on to create the masks for Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, continuing the character’s changing appearance throughout Green’s trilogy.

Now Nelson has had the opportunity to revisit his work for Halloween: The Game, consulting with the development team on Michael’s 2018 appearance. The developers worked directly with Nelson and used detailed 3D scans of the original film mask to recreate its distinctive features for the game.

“When creating the Halloween (2018) mask in Halloween: The Game, our team partnered with Academy Award winner Christopher Nelson and used meticulous 3D mask film scans to ensure every last terrifying detail was captured with precision,” the developers explained.

The new trailer gives players a closer look at the results, showing Michael wearing the aged mask and familiar dark coveralls associated with his appearance in the 2018 film. Having the artist responsible for the original movie design involved in its video game recreation gives this particular skin a direct connection to the production.

The Halloween (2018) skin will be available for $9.99 beginning October 27, alongside the previously announced Halloween 5 Michael Myers skin, which will also cost $9.99.

Both skins are part of a larger Halloween content update that includes two new playable Civilian characters, Michelle Blanton and Eugene Kelly, available together for $9.99. A separate $9.99 Halloween costume pack adds 14 outfits and 42 color variations for the game’s Civilian characters.

Players will also receive a new multiplayer map called Tower Farm, inspired by the rural setting of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. The map features farmland, barns, cornfields and other locations designed to offer a different experience from the suburban streets of Haddonfield.

Unlike the paid character skins and costume packs, Tower Farm will be available free to everyone who owns the game. The October 27 update also includes additional gameplay fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

IllFonic has said the upcoming content is only the beginning of its planned post-launch support for Halloween: The Game, with additional free and paid updates expected throughout the game’s first year.

Halloween: The Game is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Halloween (2018) Michael Myers skin arrives October 27 for $9.99.
