The Crypt Keeper has returned to television for AMC’s FearFest 2026, and fans can now watch three of his newly created hosting segments.
The Tales from the Crypt icon was brought back for this year’s 30th anniversary FearFest celebration, with John Kassir reprising his unmistakable voice and Greg Nicotero overseeing the character’s return. Now, three of the new segments have been released online, giving fans a chance to see the Crypt Keeper back in action without waiting to catch him between movies on AMC.
The new segments are part of a collaboration between AMC Global Media and Bacardí, which helped make the Crypt Keeper’s return possible. According to a new report from Adweek, the companies spent months developing the campaign, ultimately producing five original vignettes that will appear across AMC’s television programming and social media throughout October.
The partnership actually began taking shape earlier this year, before AMC had secured the streaming rights to Tales from the Crypt. Bacardí had previously partnered with AMC for FearFest in 2025 and wanted to do something bigger for Halloween 2026. As AMC’s licensing agreement for the original series came together, the possibility of reviving its famous host became part of the conversation.
“When we first presented the idea of partnering with the Crypt Keeper to Bacardí, their eyes lit up,” Mike DiGiacomo, AMC Global Media’s head of integrated marketing and Content Room, told Adweek. “All we had to say was ‘Crypt Keeper,’ and we hit the ground running.”
Greg Nicotero, whose work includes The Walking Dead and Creepshow, directed the new segments and worked with his KNB EFX team to recreate the Crypt Keeper puppet. The character’s original design was created by Kevin Yagher for HBO’s Tales from the Crypt, which ran for seven seasons from 1989 through 1996.
Rather than redesigning the Crypt Keeper for modern audiences, the new puppet closely follows the character’s familiar appearance, complete with his decaying features, wild hair and distinctive expressions.
John Kassir’s return is another important part of the revival. The actor voiced the Crypt Keeper throughout the original HBO series and continued performing the character in other Tales from the Crypt projects. His performance remains closely associated with the character, particularly the exaggerated delivery and constant stream of horror-related jokes.
The new hosting segments are part of AMC’s month-long FearFest celebration, which marks 30 years of the network’s annual Halloween programming event. This year’s lineup also includes Tales from the Crypt, bringing the original series back into the spotlight alongside the Crypt Keeper’s newly filmed appearances. AMC has also made all seven seasons of Tales from the Crypt available to stream through AMC+ and Shudder, giving fans an opportunity to revisit the original episodes.
The three newly released segments offer a closer look at how the character has been recreated for FearFest, from the puppet’s movements and expressions to John Kassir’s performance.
