Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’ Gets Digital Release on November 3

Resident Evil (2026) digital release date

Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil may be heading to home screens sooner than expected, with a new report pointing to an early November digital release.

According to release information reported by When to Stream, the latest Resident Evil movie is expected to become available for digital purchase and premium rental on November 3, 2026. Sony Pictures has not officially confirmed the date, so the reported release remains subject to change.

The timing would put the movie’s digital debut just over six weeks after its September 18 theatrical release, giving audiences another way to watch Cregger’s take on the popular Capcom video game franchise shortly after Halloween.

The new Resident Evil follows Bryan, a medical courier played by Austin Abrams, whose routine delivery takes a disastrous turn when an outbreak erupts in Raccoon City. Suddenly trapped in the middle of the escalating disaster, Bryan must find a way to survive as the city becomes increasingly dangerous.

Rather than revisiting the stories of familiar game characters, Cregger’s film introduces a new protagonist to the Resident Evil universe. The approach gives the filmmaker room to explore the franchise’s familiar setting through a different perspective while keeping the outbreak and its consequences at the center of the story.

Cregger directed the film following his success with Barbarian and Weapons. The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser.

The movie has performed well during its theatrical run, reportedly earning more than $350 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing installment in the Resident Evil film franchise. That would put it ahead of the previous live-action movies starring Milla Jovovich, as well as the 2021 reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.

For anyone waiting to watch the movie at home, the reported November 3 date applies to premium digital rental and purchase, rather than its debut on a subscription streaming service.

The film is also expected to arrive on Netflix in the United States under Sony’s existing streaming agreement, although a date for that release has not been announced.

There is currently no confirmed pricing for the digital edition, and Sony has not announced physical media release details in the information available from these reports.

Resident Evil is currently playing in theaters, with its digital release reportedly scheduled for November 3.
