‘Obsession‘ Gets November Netflix Release In Time for a Wish-Filled Thanksgiving

Obsession Netflix Release Date

Obsession finally has a Netflix release date. It’s coming to the streaming giant just in time for Thanksgiving, perfect for all your long holiday weekend binging needs.

Obsession, Curry Barker’s horror hit that turned a $750,000 budget into a reported $407 million worldwide box office haul, is making all your wishes come true this holiday season, when it hits Netflix in the U.S. starting November 17, 2026.

Netflix confirmed the date in a social media post on X with a simple message: “You wished for this.” The announcement gives the film another opportunity to find an audience after its theatrical run and its initial streaming window on Peacock.

Written and directed by Curry Barker, Obsession follows Bear, a lonely music store employee played by Michael Johnston, who wants his crush, Freaky Nikki (Inde Navarrette), to fall in love with him.

Bear turns to a strange novelty toy called the One Wish Willow, hoping it will make his feelings for Nikki mutual. His wish appears to work, but the result takes a disturbing turn as Bear discovers that getting what he wanted comes with a terrifying cost.

The film also stars Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter. Barker first built an audience through the YouTube sketch channel that’s a bad idea with comedy partner Tomlinson before moving into horror with the micro-budget film Milk & Serial.

Obsession premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 before opening in US theaters on May 15, 2026. It became a major theatrical success despite its modest production budget, earning a reported $407 million worldwide. The film became available to rent or buy digitally on June 30.

The film’s streaming rollout follows the release arrangement for Universal Pictures and Focus Features titles in the United States. Obsession began its subscription streaming run on Peacock on July 17, with Netflix following four months later.

The November 17 date applies to Netflix in the US. According to What’s on Netflix, the film is expected to remain on the service for ten months before returning to Peacock for the final part of its streaming window.

For anyone who missed the film in theaters or wants to see what all the attention was about, Bear’s wish will be available to stream on Netflix this fall.
