If you love Curry Barker’s Obsession so, so, so, so, so much, you’re going to love it even more in the immersive 4DX format. Regal just announced that this year’s horror phenomenon is coming to 4DX theaters for one night only, just in time for Halloween.
Sounds like someone broke their One Wish Willow in half and wished for Obsession’s return to theaters. But just like Bear’s wish going slightly left of center, this upcoming screening isn’t quite what you planned for.
Ever wanted to be slammed face first into a steering wheel over and over again? That wish is granted on October 14, when Bear and Freaky Nikki head back onto the big screen for this special engagement.
I’m actually having a hard time imagining what this even looks or feels like. Will we smell urine when Nikki lets loose on Bear’s living room carpet? Will we feel the shotgun blast to Ian’s face? This isn’t an action-heavy thriller, so it’ll be interesting to see how the 4DX is actually utilized. It’s not exactly a movie screaming for this type of upgrade.
Tickets are on sale now. You might want to jump on this one early, since screenings are limited. Don’t expect any new scenes or changes. It doesn’t sound like anything in the actual film itself has been changed.
Audiences will be pulled directly into this “wish-gone-wrong” fantasia. According to Regal, they have added quite the new spooky ambiance to the proceedings.
- Environmental Effects: Synchronized physical elements like wind and fog inside the theater.
- Motion-Based Seating: Seats that move in tandem with the film’s tense psychological and supernatural beats.
- Halloween Programming: Focus Features and Regal are bringing the movie back specifically as a highlight of their October Halloween lineup.
“After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.”

Obsession is returning, this time in the 4DX format, only on October 14. The screening is a special presentation alongside Regal’s “31 Screams on Screen” series.
