‘The Conjuring: Unspoken’ Video Game Goes Beyond The Warren Saga on Netflix

The Conjuring: Unspoken Video Game

It was announced today that an all-new chapter of The Conjuring universe is coming to Netflix in the form of an interactive, narrative-driven horror video game that goes beyond The Warren Saga.

This creepy new game titled The Conjuring: Unspoken is coming to Netflix on October 13, just in time for all the fun Halloween activities currently permeating our pop culture. This is a cloud-based game designed to be played on your TV, with your smartphone serving as your controller. It’s coming from Supermassive Games, who previously gave us Until Dawn and The Quarry.

While this video game takes place within the world of The Conjuring, it will move away from the ongoing story of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were last seen on the big screen in The Conjuring: Last Rites, which featured flashbacks to their younger days. That all sets the upcoming prequel The Conjuring: First Communion in motion.

There is no indication that the upcoming movie, which hits theaters September 10, 2027, is tied into this new Netflix game.

In The Conjuring: Unspoken, you play as demonologist Francesca Noakes, called in to help the grieving Cooper family after supernatural chaos erupts following a failed séance.

Players are able to shape the game narrative through dialogue choices while using the various virtual tools available on your phone, including an electromagnetic field (EMF) reader, an infrared camera for thermal overlays, and a spirit box.

Through these various means, you’ll be able to explore the widening environment unspooling on your living room TV, as it pulls you into your own Conjuring adventure. Better go get yourself some holy water. We don’t need this turning into another Sadako Yamamura incident.

Like most stories set within The Conjuring universe, this video game takes place inside another real-life location. The historic Red Lion Inn in England, which is allegedly haunted. To survive this next chapter in The Conjuring saga, players must contend with a grief-feeding demon named Vinea, along with a folklore-inspired ghost called Florrie. Both are new villains being unleashed within the world of The Conjuring.

Perhaps the most fun aspect for fans of The Conjuring movies is that some very familiar faces are promised to pop up, which will greatly enhance the backstory. That’s all being kept under wraps until you play for yourself. Expect some fun cameo surprises, be they human or of an otherworldly nature.

“Who doesn’t want to star in their own ghost hunt? Even if you’ve instigated some ill-advised paranormal activity of your own with a Ouija board, your options have likely been limited. But that changes with The Conjuring: Unspoken, a game based on the blockbuster horror franchise coming exclusively to Netflix on Oct. 13.”

The Conjuring movies follow a pair of badass paranormal investigators taking on some seriously nasty supernatural evil on both sides of the Atlantic. It all kicked off in 2013, throwing audiences headfirst into the haunted house from hell. Then The Conjuring 2 packed up the holy water and headed across the pond to take on the terrifying real-life case of the Enfield poltergeist.

Since that first haunted house sank its teeth into the box office, The Conjuring universe has grown into four main films and a whole graveyard of spin-offs. We’ve gotten creepy prequels centered around a very cursed, very plastic-faced doll named Annabelle, along with a habit-wearing demon from the deepest pits of hell known as The Nun.

So lock the doors, grab the holy water and maybe keep a crucifix within arm’s reach, because this franchise clearly isn’t finished haunting us yet.

The Conjuring: Unspoken might actually be scarier than the movies because this time, you’re the one stuck inside the nightmare.
