Magic: The Gathering is getting into the beef stick business, and the collaboration with Mythical Meats comes with a familiar twist for players: you won’t necessarily know what you’re getting until you open the pack.
The new lineup features 15 flavors inspired by the game’s five basic land types and ten Ravnica guilds, with a randomized variety pack that brings actual food RNG into the picture.
The main offering is a $30 variety pack containing ten randomly selected beef sticks. That means customers hoping to collect all ten guild flavors could wind up with duplicates or a selection that doesn’t include the particular flavor they’re after. Mythical Meats makes no promise that specific flavors will appear in a pack, and the full set of guilds isn’t guaranteed.
The flavors are individually wrapped and made with beef, with each one tied to a familiar part of the Magic universe. Some are fairly straightforward, while others take a more adventurous approach to the flavor combinations.
The Pack Breakdown & Flavors
If you’re trying to pull a particular flavor, you’ll be dealing with actual food RNG. Fortunately, the full lineup has been detailed by Sporked. Here’s how the 15 flavors break down:
- White Plains: Original
- Blue Island: Teriyaki
- Black Swamp: Peppered
- Red Mountain: Habanero
- Green Forest: Garlic Parmesan
- Azorius: Apple Cheddar
- Orzhov: Landjaeger, a German-style semi-dried sausage
- Boros: Chipotle Lime
- Selesnya: Honey Brown Sugar
- Dimir: Bloody Mary
- Izzet: Sriracha Honey
- Simic: Spicy Jerk
- Rakdos: Smoky Cherry
- Gruul: Mango Jalapeño
- Golgari: Spicy Dill Pickle
Not everyone will want to gamble on a randomized selection, especially if they’re more interested in the basic lands than the Ravnica guilds. Mythical Meats also offers a $15 Lands variety pack containing five sticks, with one guaranteed flavor for each of the five basic land types. Individual sticks are also listed starting at $3.50, giving customers another way to try a particular flavor without buying the randomized ten-pack.
This isn’t Magic: The Gathering’s first trip into the food business. In 2023, the game partnered with IHOP for a promotion that offered rewards for MTG Arena. Mythical Meats, meanwhile, has already worked with tabletop gaming through its Dungeons & Dragons snack range, which included exotic meats such as yak, alligator and camel.
There is one important difference with this new collection: all 15 Magic flavors are made from beef. So whether you pull the flavor you’re chasing or wind up with an unexpected duplicate, at least these booster-pack pulls can become lunch.
