Who’s ready to go 88 smiles per hour? Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd are celebrating Back to the Future Day with a new collection for fans of the time-traveling franchise, including miniature DeLoreans personally autographed by the two stars.
Fox and Lloyd announced the Time Travel Motor Club on October 21, the date celebrated annually as Back to the Future Day. The occasion commemorates October 21, 2015, the future date Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to in Back to the Future Part II. The fan-created holiday first took off in 2015, when the date depicted in the movie finally arrived in real life.
“We’re going back in time!”
Fox wrote in his announcement on X. He explained that he and Lloyd had teamed up for a limited-edition collection, thanking fans for keeping the franchise alive over the years.
Lloyd shared the news on his own account, opening with a very Doc Brown greeting: “Great Scott!”
The collection includes merchandise branded with the 88MPH name, along with collectible DeLorean models signed by Fox, who played Marty McFly, and Lloyd, who brought Doc Brown to life. The actors say the signed collectibles will be available in very limited numbers, and the collection will only be offered for three weeks.
The official 88MPH store currently lists a Michael J. Fox autographed DeLorean for $1,200 and a Christopher Lloyd autographed version for $350. Fans can also find a DeLorean key necklace, T-shirts and a hat. The store notes that most items are custom-made, so buyers should check its preorder and shipping information before placing an order.
October 21 has become a major annual celebration for the franchise, with fans revisiting the movies and businesses marking the occasion with special events. This year, Back to the Future is also returning to theaters nationwide for a one-night screening on October 21, giving fans another reason to revisit the original 1985 film.
The Time Travel Motor Club gives fans a chance to take home a piece of the franchise with a direct connection to its two leading stars. Just don’t wait too long if a signed DeLorean is on your wish list. The collection’s advertised three-week window means this particular trip back to Hill Valley won’t last forever.
