McDonald’s is giving its Halloween Boo Buckets a villainous makeover this year, bringing some of Disney’s most recognizable troublemakers to the fast-food chain’s annual collectible pails.
The 2026 Boo Buckets feature characters from Disney’s animated movies, replacing the familiar monster faces that have appeared on many of the Halloween Happy Meal containers over the years. The new designs were revealed by food and snack collector Snackolator, giving fans an early look at this year’s Halloween promotion.
The Disney Villains theme is a departure from the classic Boo Buckets that longtime McDonald’s customers remember. Introduced in 1986, the original Halloween pails became seasonal favorites thanks to their pumpkin, ghost and witch designs. The plastic containers doubled as trick-or-treat buckets, and their return in recent years has turned them into collectibles for adults who grew up with them.
McDonald’s has experimented with different approaches to its Halloween Happy Meal packaging since reviving the Boo Buckets. Some years have leaned into the original monster designs, while others have featured licensed characters and entertainment collaborations. The Disney Villains collection continues that approach, offering another reason for collectors to track down the complete assortment.
The early reveal comes as McDonald’s prepares for its annual Halloween promotion. Additional details, including the official launch date, participating locations and availability, have not yet been confirmed in the information released so far.
As with previous Boo Bucket promotions, availability may vary by restaurant once the collection launches.
For now, the first look at the 2026 Disney Villains Boo Buckets is making the rounds online, giving Halloween collectors a preview of what could be waiting at McDonald’s later this month.
