New ‘Werwulf’ Trailer Rips the Skin Off Robert Eggers’ Medieval Wolfman Movie

Werwulf trailer 2

“Thy soule is cursid.” And so is the new trailer for director Robert Eggers’ medieval gothic horror take on the beloved wolfman mythology titled Werwulf.

Cosmo’s Moon was swinging high above us this past weekend, which marked the perfect time to unleash some new footage from Werwulf, offering us a fresh slice of nightmarish hell direct from the mind of the man who gave us The VVitch and Nosferatu. If we’re to believe Robert Eggers, this is the most cursid thing he’s ever done, so prepare yeeself for some good old-fashioned pants-pooping fun.

The Werwulf Trailer 2 perfectly shows off the atmospheric chill in the air we’ve come to expect from Eggers’ iconic works. This new footage has been included below for your watching pleasure. Just don’t sit so close to the screen, as you, too, may become consumed by the Harvest Moon (What is this, a Ghost video?)

Focus Features, the studio behind Werwulf, has also unveiled a fun interactive activity with its Werwulf Alternate Reality Game, which you can dive into over at DevourethAllMankynde.com. Now you can plunge headfirst into this muted, muddy world with a fun game timed to the full moons we’ll be getting from September until November. This spooky-ooky game is set to climax with a mysterious prize for those who complete the three-moon marathon.

How do you play? Simple. You need to hunt down the hidden “sign” on select digital platforms to decipher the message and fulfill your quest. Here’s the bummer part where ol’ DrScreams lets you down. You only have 24 hours each full moon to search for the new sign before it disappears. I overslept and the first game is over. But that doesn’t mean we can’t look at the first clue together.

Don’t have any plans this Christmas? Well, you do now. Prepare yourselves, because Robert Eggers is about to drag us kicking and screaming into the crustiest corner of the Middle Ages! Focus Features presents Werwulf, a savage tale of devotion and damnation. It’s the kind of evil that doesn’t just haunt you… Dude? IT LIVES INSIDE YOU!

Set in medieval England, Robert Eggers’ Werwulf plunges us into a grim world where faith and fear collide with something far more sinister. The film follows a tale of damnation as a terrifying evil begins to claw its way into the lives of those caught in its path. With Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe leading the cast, Eggers looks ready to sweep audiences straight into the blood-soaked dankness of the Middle Ages.

Werewolf? Demon? Cursed soul? Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure I could use Gary Busey, a rocket-fueled wheelchair and a Tall Boy of Coors Light right about now.
