Taking a page ripped right out of his own Hobbs & Shaw franchise, Jason Statham gets a “new” set of wheels in The Beekeeper 2, and this sleek muscle car looks like it was built for somebody who considers traffic laws more of a suggestion. The first official trailer for the action sequel introduces a fully loaded 1969 Dodge Super Bee complete with “Stinger,” giving Adam Clay a seriously mean ride for his next round of revenge.
The classic muscle car is a standout reveal in the trailer, which brings Statham back as the former government assassin whose last attempt to settle a score turned into a full-scale war against a criminal network. This time, Clay has a much bigger problem on his hands. The Beekeepers, the secret organization that trained him, have gone rogue and want complete control over the U.S. government.
“You were the most dangerous operative they’ve ever created,” the trailer declares. “But now the Beekeepers have gone rogue. And you are the only one who can stop them.”
Clay is now a wanted man, but that doesn’t stop him from getting pulled into a mission to save President Jessica Danforth, played by Jemma Redgrave, from her own secret organization. The setup puts Statham on the opposite side of the people who made him such a formidable weapon in the first place. If the first movie was about one very angry man dismantling a criminal operation, the sequel appears ready to make the entire Beekeeper network his target.
A movie like this needs a suitably ridiculous ride for its leading man. The 1969 Dodge Super Bee, nicknamed “Stinger,” fits the bill. The original Super Bee was Dodge’s muscle car offering for drivers who wanted big American power, and its name is particularly appropriate for a franchise built around a man who takes his beekeeping mythology very seriously. The trailer’s reveal gives the car a place in the sequel’s identity beyond simply being another vehicle in an action movie.
The other major change is behind the camera. Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto takes over directing duties from David Ayer, who helmed the original The Beekeeper. Tjahjanto has built a following amongst action fans with films such as The Night Comes for Us and The Shadow Strays, as well as the Bob Odenkirk sequel Nobody 2. His track record suggests that Clay’s next assignment won’t be short on hard-hitting action.
Jason Statham returns alongside Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and Bobby Naderi. The sequel also features Pom Klementieff, Yara Shahidi, and Adam Copeland, with Redgrave playing the president caught in the middle of the Beekeepers’ power grab.
The first The Beekeeper, released in 2024, turned Statham’s familiar tough-guy formula into a revenge thriller with a bizarrely entertaining obsession with bees. The follow-up expands the conspiracy and gives Clay a target much closer to home. Now he’s facing the organization that trained him, a president in danger, and a classic Dodge that looks ready to leave a few tire marks on the way.
The Beekeeper 2 is directed by Timo Tjahjanto, with a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer and Umair Aleem. Amazon MGM Studios is scheduled to release the film in U.S. theaters on January 15, 2027.
