One of Them Days was one of my favorite movies of 2025, and it is definitely my favorite comedy in quite sometime. A bit old school, a bit new school, and undeniably funny all the way through. So where is the sequel already? I’m tired of waiting for any news about Dreux and Alyssa’s triumphant return. I need more Biscuit Bandit in my life.
One of them Days 2 was announced more than a year ago. Keke Palmer and SZA were confirmed to return and seemed quite excited to do so. Now, production records indicate that the sequel has already finished filming. Why haven’t we heard anything else about it in months?
TriStar Pictures announced the follow-up in June 2025, just months after One of Them Days became one of the year’s biggest surprises. Palmer and SZA were expected to return as best friends Dreux and Alyssa, with director Lawrence Lamont and writer Syreeta Singleton also coming back. Issa Rae was attached to produce through Hoorae Media. At the time, the movie was described as being in early development, with plot details being kept under wraps.
That was well over a year ago. It’s now October 2026, and there still isn’t a release date for One of Them Days 2. More importantly, the sequel apparently isn’t still sitting in the development stage.
Production List currently has One of Them Days 2 marked as a feature film in post-production and says principal photography has been completed. The listing was updated in April 2026 and identifies Palmer and SZA among the cast, with Lamont directing and Singleton writing. Production List’s updates for both TriStar Pictures and Hoorae Media have continued to identify the movie as being in post-production in subsequent updates.
That lines up with other evidence that the movie went into production last year. Production Weekly showed the sequel as being in active development in June 2025, while shooting information indicated a Los Angeles start date was planned for later that year. A SAG-AFTRA production listing also shows One of Them Days 2 with Sony and background casting beginning in November 2025.
In other words, this isn’t simply a sequel that was announced and then disappeared before cameras could roll. At least according to the available production records, Dreux and Alyssa have already filmed their second movie.
Yet, there is remarkably little for audiences to actually see. There is no announced release date or trailer. There hasn’t been a teaser poster or any substantial marketing campaign. There is still no official plot synopsis beyond the basic fact that KeKe Palmer* and SZA are returning.
Even the public databases don’t agree completely on the movie’s current status, with IMDb continuing to list the project as being in pre-production for some of its cast and producers.
That doesn’t necessarily mean something has gone wrong. Post-production can take time, and studios don’t always announce release dates as soon as a movie wraps. Sony’s publicly listed release schedule also doesn’t currently include One of Them Days 2 among its announced theatrical releases through the middle of 2027.
The lack of information is particularly noticeable because the first movie had a very strong run. Released in January 2025, One of Them Days earned more than $50 million worldwide and spent three weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 after its theatrical window proved to be quite popular.
KeKe Palmer and SZA’s chemistry was a major part of the movie’s appeal, giving TriStar a recognizable comedy franchise with characters audiences had already embraced.
The first movie also left Dreux and Alyssa at a natural turning point. Dreux landed her dream job, Alyssa successfully held her first art show, and the pair managed to recover the rent money that had sent their entire day spiraling out of control. Then their apartment caught fire.
There is plenty of room for the sequel to take them somewhere new. We just don’t know where that is yet. For now, the most accurate answer to the question of where One of Them Days 2 is would appear to be: somewhere in post-production.
That’s actually the encouraging part. The movie appears to have made it through filming. What’s strange is that, more than a year after TriStar first announced it, the studio still hasn’t told us when we’re going to see it.
