Ryan J. Downey is conmaxxing this weekend as he heads back to Worcester, once again taking on the title of Master of Panels at Silver Scream Con V.
Created by Ice Nine Kills, the three-day horror convention returns to the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts from October 2 through October 4. This year’s guest lineup pulls from Scream, Terrifier, Saw, The Exorcist, A Clockwork Orange and plenty more, and Downey will be spending much of the weekend on stage digging into those movies with the people who made them.
It’s a role he’s become pretty familiar with. Downey has moderated Q&As at San Diego Comic-Con, WonderCon, Astronomicon, Kevin Smith’s Chronic Con and previous editions of Silver Scream Con, including its first London event. His career as an entertainment journalist has included work for MTV News, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter and Alternative Press, along with interviews with everyone from Harrison Ford and Quentin Tarantino to Ozzy Osbourne and Tim Burton.
Downey’s background in heavy music makes him an especially natural fit for a convention created by Ice Nine Kills. He has written extensively about rock and metal throughout his career, authored or co-authored books with Black Veil Brides’ Andy Biersack and Falling in Reverse’s Ronnie Radke, and worked with artists including Slipknot, Megadeth, Lamb of God and Ice Nine Kills. He also wrote Inked in Blood 2: Once Upon a Crime with INK frontman Spencer Charnas.
