‘Ebenezer‘ Has His Own Venmo Account, Send Him a Request and See If He’s Feeling Generous

Ebenezer Venmo Account

Need help paying off your student loans? Got a bill coming due? You could always ask Ebenezer Scrooge for a little financial assistance. Just don’t expect him to break the bank.

The official account for Ebenezer, the upcoming Johnny Depp movie, has set up a Venmo profile for the famous miser, giving people a chance to request money directly from Scrooge himself. There’s even a video showing what happens when someone asks him for $500 to help with student loans. Scrooge’s response? He sends back a single penny.

That’s Scrooge for you. The man has money, but getting him to part with any of it is another story. Maybe you’ll catch him on a good day and he’ll send you two pence. Don’t spend it all in one place.

You can find the account at venmo.com/u/EBENEZERmovie, listed under the name Ebenezer Scrooge. The stunt was promoted through the movie’s official X account, which invites people to send Scrooge a request and see if he’s feeling generous.

It’s a clever way to bring Charles Dickens’ famously tightfisted character into the modern world. Scrooge might be facing ghosts and reconsidering his life in the movie, but apparently, his relationship with money still needs some work.

Directed by Ti West, Ebenezer stars Depp as the character whose name has become shorthand for a miser. The cast also includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley and Ian McKellen. Paramount’s new take on A Christmas Carol is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026.

Whether Scrooge will actually send you anything beyond a penny is another matter. But if you do decide to ask, don’t forget to thank him. Getting even that much out of the old miser is practically a Christmas miracle.
